Dear Church Family,
THANK YOU! As of May 2, 2024 our campaign commitments total $1,578,662. That is 98% of our goal of $1.6 Million in commitments which will be fulfilled over the next 3-5 years. Those gifts come from about 125 households, with a median commitment of about $3,000. I wish there was a way to fully calculate the gifts of time and talent that have gone into bringing this vision into reality. I can assure you the success of this campaign is due to the generosity of more people than we can count.
A capital campaign like this one isn’t really about the money, and it’s not about the bricks and mortar. It’s not about having the snazziest church basement in town. Fundraising and renovation is about sharing a vision in community. It’s about building spaces for God’s dream to come to life, where we can practice love, justice, and grace, and bring it out into the world.
Henri Nouwen once said, “every time I take a step in the direction of generosity, I know I am moving from fear to love.”
This is the first time LCC has done a major capital campaign in decades. We’ve learned and grown a lot, and I’m sure we will continue to learn and grow through the renovation process.
It’s true that we’re not quite at our goal. We have a little less than $22,000 left to go. I feel confident that we will meet that goal. Because of your generous gifts, our church will continue to provide a safe gathering place for the community and for the ministry of our church
