Book Club

Come to Adventures in Reading, The LCC Book Club that meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 12:30 p.m. in the church parlor.

Fifteen members attended the May 8th meeting of book club.  The Highland Witch (2010) – also known by the titles Corrag and Witch’s Light – was our book for review.  Our story transported us to Scotland and the year 1692.  The true events of the Glencoe Massacre, witchcraft, and the young herb healing woman (Corrag) frame this fictional story around the historical facts.  Kay Galloway was our discussion leader.  Kay and Mike lived in Scotland (Edinburgh) for 9 months during the time of Mike’s sabbatical as professor at Mansfield University in Pennsylvania.  Several other members have traveled to Scotland, and Peg and Stan Shaw will vacation there in June (Glencoe – site of the story – is on their itinerary!). We continue to appreciate the variety of books selected by our discussion leaders and look forward to another year of amazing reads!

Looking ahead to next month:  Wednesday, June 12,  12:30pm
Lunch Out:  Heck’s Cafe, 35514 Detroit Rd., Avon
We have our list of nine books chosen for next reading season, but we will have the discussion leaders choose the month for their review.

All are welcome.  Please R.S.V.P. to Kathy MacDougall if you have not already signed up.

There are copies of many of the Adventures in Reading books available for borrowing for LCC  members.  The books are in the library/archives and can be signed out.
