Hello church family!
The winter season at LCC is so much fun. Along with worship and our youth classes and gatherings, we have special opportunities to grow together in friendship and faith and create lasting memories. The children’s Christmas pageant and the youth musical bring us together to grow as individuals and as a team while we share beautiful stories with each other and our community. The Homeless Awareneness Sleep Out provides an incredible educational experience for our youth and challenges all of us to go above and beyond in supporting the needs of others.
On Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Jesus. We celebrate because it is our tradition and it can be a lot of fun, but the main reason we celebrate feels especially important right now. Throughout the Old Testament, we read story after story of how God’s people tried to get things right but the temptations of power and greed continuously got in the way. The miraculous birth of Jesus brought hope to people who were desperate and challenged the power hungry. Jesus’ life and ministry showed people that another way is possible- a way of hope, peace, joy, and love.
Our young people at LCC are growing up in a community of love and support where Jesus’ teachings of hope, peace, joy, and love are not ideas to consider but are a way of life. We have so much to learn from them. I’m grateful to be part of a church community that truly loves, values, and celebrates its children. May we all share the optimism of children throughout this season and the new year.
Much love and many blessings,
Rachel Burns
