CYF FALL 2025
by: Rachel Burns

Hello, church family~

I hope you had a wonderful summer! Here at LCC, we really had a good time. The youth mission trip to Cincinnati was a truly impactful experience and our Vacation Bible School “Compassion Camp: Changing the world with Lovingkindness”, was energetic and meaningful. Thank you so much for supporting these important ministries. Another big event of the summer has been post-construction-room-refreshing. The faith formation classrooms, along with the nursery, are all moving to their perfect homes on the social hall level and the social hall balcony. We lost some space that needed to be used for storage during construction and now we have it back. As I’m writing this, it is still August and I’m working hard to have things ready for our young people in September. It’s really exciting! Thank you so much to everyone who has been helping make our spaces special.

Faith Formation classes will begin on September 14th, which is the Sunday after Rally Day. Please be sure to register all young people infants through 12th grade. Registration is a big help for planning purposes and it also helps us stay connected to your family. Young people need to be registered every year. On Sundays, the faith formation check in table will be located near the lobby on the 1st floor. All children through 5th grade should be checked in each Sunday. Register here: www.tinyurl.com/LCCkids25

I’m so happy to share that we are offering Our Whole Lives classes for 8th-9th graders during the school year. Our Whole Lives (OWL) is a sexuality education program that fosters informed, responsible, and values-based decisions about sexual health and behavior. The program provides an opportunity for youth to learn about sexuality in the affirming and supportive setting of our church. Our denomination has a proud tradition that calls us to take an active role in the promotion of education and justice in human sexuality. Through this program, youth have the profound opportunity to deepen their faith and put their values into practice. We have had 2 parent/caregiver meetings and we have one more on the calendar. If you have an 8th or 9th grader and would like to learn more about this program, please attend our next parent/caregiver meeting on Sept. 21 at 11:30am at church. If you are unable to attend the meeting or if you have some questions, please just reach out to me.

I’m looking forward to my 7th school year with you, LCC family!

Many blessings,

Rachel Burns
