January 2024

Hello church family!

Have you ever given or received a 12 Days of Christmas gift for Christmas? I love these gifts. Usually they have a little compartment to open on each of the 12 days after Christmas that lead up to  Epiphany. Each little compartment contains a small gift or a treat. There are two reasons why I love these gifts.

Reason 1: They remind us that Christmas doesn’t end at the end of Christmas day. Throughout the 12 days of Christmas, we are reminded each day of the joy of Jesus’ birth and the star that led the Magi to Jesus.

Reason 2: Who doesn’t love more gifts?!

The Magi saw a star one night and knew that it would lead them to something special. They went on a long journey, trusting that they were headed in the right direction. How do you find direction in life? Following a star in the sky might not be very helpful to you (or maybe it will, let me know!), but we can discover other ways to find direction and guidance. At LCC, everyone is encouraged to pick a “star word” on Epiphany Sunday, Jan. 7th. Keep your star word with you throughout 2024 and consider how it might help guide you throughout the year. I hope that like the Magi, we all have the courage to follow the light this year.

Much love and many blessings,
Rachel Burns
