Hello, Dear Church!
Please forgive the tardiness of this month’s edition of The Columns. We have been so busy at LCC leading up to the Annual Meeting this past Sunday 2/4, planning for the season of Lent, finalizing decisions for our Music Ministries staffing transition, and picking up momentum with our Give, Gather Grow Capital Campaign. There is so much to be excited about as LCC leans into vital and vibrant ministry in this new year.
Lent begins Wednesday, February 14th on Ash Wednesday, which is also Valentine’s Day. An email about Lent activities will come out on Monday, February 12th. We’ll also be updating a page on our Website at LCC-Church.org/LentAtLCC as a one-stop-shop for all Lent information.
In a time when our church has so much going on (as you can see in my first paragraph), we must remember the purpose, mission and vision that brings us together in the first place. I find myself meditating lately on Psalm 127: “Unless God builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” It is a reminder for me that if we lose focus on God’s work in our lives and in the life of the church, and if we forget to show love to our neighbors and serve God in the community during our renovation, we’re renovating the building in vain. God’s hand must be integrally at work in all of our decisions and efforts.
Thanks be to God, Lent has come at a perfect time to call us into a season of Spiritual Renewal. Take a look at all that is happening and participate in what you can! It is always a joy to build our community and our faith together.
With Grace and Peace,
Pastor Joanna
