Children & Youth Music - Lakewood Congregational Church

Music plays a vital part to our Faith Formation program. The Director of Youth Music leads the Joyful Noise Singers, 3rd and 4th grade Singers and the Next Generation Band.

Our Joyful Noise Singers (Preschool-2nd grade) meet at the beginning of their Faith Formation Time in the Chapel.  Children learn the basics about singing and perform periodically during worship.

The 3rd/4th/5th Grade Singers meet at the end of Faith Formation during the school year.  This group experience builds peer teams and contributes to a sense of their church community while developing a love of music.

The Next Generation Band (6th -12th graders) rehearses in the Band Room from 11:15-11:45 every Sunday during the school year. The band utilizes the youths instrumental and vocal skills to create the repertoire of music played during worship.

The annual Christmas Pageant provides all children and youth the opportunity to perform in a story about the joy of the season.

For over 40 years, the children and Youth of LCC present a musical production each spring for the congregation and community. It is a three to four month long commitment to convey a positive message through music and drama.  Productions have included: Godspell, Fiddler on the Roof, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in addition to several original productions.  The kids have wowed audiences for years.  The musical is directed by our advisors who are professionally trained actors, vocalists and musicians.  The performance are fee and open to the public.

The 2019 Youth Production will be You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Performances are April 12 & 13 at 7:00pm and April 14 at 3:00pm. Tickets are free but required. Call the office to reserve tickets for this year’s production: 216-221-9555. There will be a free will donation at the show.
