LCC Embarks on Visioning & Planning Process

Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young will see visions, your old will dream dreams. — Acts 2:17

LCC will be undertaking a Visioning and Planning process over the next several months. This promises to be an exciting time for our congregation.

Our objective is to engage all of us, along with our outside constituents, in planning for our future. We will examine what we do well and what our hopes are for our future. Our goal will be to come away with a vision for the next five years. We will achieve this by doing a mission and values audit, inventorying our assets and determining what resources we will need to get us where we want to go. We will also be designing our church profile and reviewing our staffing model to be sure it supports the mission and vision of LCC.

We have retained the services of a consultant and facilitator, Leslie Yerkes, from Catalyst Consulting. Leslie has worked with the United Church of Christ Funds for many years, as well as the City of Lakewood, Lakewood City Schools, and a host of corporate clients. She has also worked with churches on processes similar to ours. The Executive Team felt she was a good fit for our needs.

We need to hear everyone’s voices in this process. We are asking for an investment of your time to ensure our success. We have scheduled three sessions and encourage you to attend as many as you are able. All sessions will take place in the Social Hall.

  • Saturday, March 18th, 9am-1pm: Affirming Our Church Experience
  • Saturday, April 29th, 9am-1pm: Casting Our Vision for the Future
  • Sunday, May 21st, 11:30am-1:30pm (Lunch included): A Call for Leadership

Beginning February 26th you may sign up at the table in the West Clifton Lobby on Sundays. You can also contact the church office and let them know that you plan to participate and if you need childcare. Youth are encouraged to participate.

The visioning process will help us to sustain our health as a congregation. It will also allow us to take care of ourselves so that we may have the capacity to take care of others. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Rev. Mark Thomas, a member of the Executive Team, or a member of the Visioning Steering Team.
